Objective
The group was started in 2000, with participants from the Yateley U3A but is open to members of other affiliated local U3As
Our main objective is to improve our fluency and knowledge of the French language and to learn more about the life, culture, customs, idioms and other aspects of the French way of life.

Participants
- We all have a reasonable understanding of French with a mixed range of abilities
- We have engaged the services of a native French speaker as our tutor who, although working us well, still manages to introduce a lot of humour into the proceedings
- You are welcome to come along to a couple of Meetings to see if the Group would be of interest
- If you decide to join, we will make a charge to cover the tutor’s fee and expenses
French Content
- We enjoy discussing many subjects in French to the best of our ability and often gain an insight from our tutor into French life, customs and politics
- The more formal part of the activity may involve a subject introduced by a French TV or radio excerpt, a BD comic strip such as “Gaston” or an extract from a newspaper or magazine followed by an interactive “role-play” to test our understanding of the subject
- We are encouraged to attempt further study by a “homework” exercise based on the subject discussed during the morning session.
